Dr. Glesener grew up in Brevard, North Carolina, where he helped his father study and census Transylvania county for White Squirrels, cascade waterfalls, and first developed his love for the outdoors. He continued his quest for knowledge at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a Bachelor of Sciences in Biology and served as a teaching assistant in Organic Chemistry, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and Physics, and became a Carolina Covenant Scholar.
Dr. Glesener's love for North Carolina and the Carolina blue blood in his veins led him to continue his dental journey at the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. During his time in dental school, Dr. Glesener was named a Rural Oral Health Scholar and was awarded the Dr. Douglas and Ursula Young Scholarship and the Eugene Rossitch Family Scholarship.
Dr. Glesener loves working with the community to increase access to oral health care and create the best possible smiles. While in dental school, he served on the Give Kids a Smile board at UNC to provide quality dentistry free of charge to children in need in the Triangle area, and he also helped families affected by cleft lip/palate through organizing fundraisers like the "Cleft Palate Gallop" 5K.
Dr. Glesener has always been interested in the growth and development of the face and jaws, and he is now a published contributor to studies of the cellular biology of tooth movement, speech pathology implications of "bad bites," and educational issues related to the future of dentistry.
Following his graduation from dental school, Dr. Glesener was selected by the University of Texas Health Science Center to complete a 3-year Orthodontic Residency, where he was trained in the use of traditional braces, lnvisalign, 3D printing, and other customized appliances. And though it's true that everything is bigger in Texas, Dr. Glesener missed his sweet home Carolina.
Dr. Glesener loves playing basketball, building personal computers, and collecting a wide array of vintage sneakers, and when he's not working to create beautiful smiles, you can find him somewhere on the water enjoying the beautiful North Carolina weather with his dog, Sir Rupp.
Please give Dr. Glesener a warm welcome to our team here in Hickory and Morganton!
